If you are a parent, or want to be a parent, good for you. But don’t tell people who feel differently that they’ll change their minds, like a desire for children is such an inevitability. 

Not only is it incredibly condescending, it shows how remarkably small-minded you are. I love my sister’s kids, but I could never raise them full time. I like my life; I like sleeping in and hanging out watching TV and going out with my friends and making comics. And while I look forward to evolving as a person, I don’t think I’ll ever want to spend (at least) 18 years of my life with no privacy. (Also, I remember myself as a teenager, and good God, I do not want to deal with that. My parents are saints.)

“But you don’t know how you’ll feel in a few years.” You’re right; I have no idea. But don’t assume that I’ll automatically want kids – I don’t assume you’ll change your mind about it, because that would be presumptuous and rude.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go watch the first season of Farscape on DVD. Because I can.
